WELLNESS IS THE WORD OF THE DAY FOR GCS STUDENTS

-

GOREY Community School fifth year students are feeling very revived after their wellbeing morning last Wednesday.

The student were welcomed by guidance counsellors Davnet Neary and Criona Atkinson who treated them to some healthy snacks of fruit and yogurt before the day began.

The day included an informative talk from Home Economics teacher Marian Kavanagh about the benefits of healthy eating, followed by a special visit from local author Carina McEvoy who spoke about positive mental health

‘Carina gave strategies to students on how to think smart and to break the cycle of negative thoughts that can sometimes impact on our wellbeing,’ said PRO Nuala Moore.

The final speaker on the wellbeing day was Charlie Batt, a lecturer of Sport and Fitness in Bray Institute of Further Technology. He gave a presentation on the importance of exercise and how changing fitness routines can have a positive impact on overall wellbeing.

Nuala thanked the speakers and Marian for putting together the healthy snacks, and the parents association.
