Drink driving a fourth time

-

JUDGE Brian O’Shea considered jailing a motorist who came before him at Gorey District Court to plead guilty to a drink drive offence.

The alcohol reading in the case of Dainis Udris (38) from 15 Glen Richards Cove, Pollshone, was relatively low.

However, the court learned that the same man had three previous convictions for drinking and driving. The latest offence occurred at Clonattin Lower on June 3 when Udris was pulled up at a Garda checkpoint.

The father of two came to court with no solicitor to represent him, pleading guilty in the matter.

The judge told the repeat offender that the time had come when prison had to be considered.

However, the two-month term was suspended as the defendant was fined €100 and put off the road for a year.
