KILRUSH DRAMA GROUP

Don’t miss the first chance to see Kilrush Drama Group’s forthcomin­g production of ‘The Steward of Chrisendom’ by Irish playwright Sebastian Barry.

The play is being directed by Mick Byrne and the role of Thomas Dunne is being played by Michael Dunbar. His three daughters, Anne, Maud and Dolly are being played by Cora Tyrrell, Máire Doran and Olivia Mathews. The warder in the Hospital (Smith) is being played Joe Sinnott and the seamstress Mrs O’Dea is being played by Jane Kinsella. Matt Kirwan (Maud’s husband) is being played by Brendan Doyle and the Garda Recruit is being played by Stephen Kehoe, and Thomas’s son Willy, who is a boy soprano is being played by Niall Kehoe.

The play will open in St Brigid’s Hall, Carnew next Friday night, February 15, at 8 p.m. and will also be staged on Sunday, February 17, at 8 p.m.

SPLIT-THE-POT

Friday, February 8, winner of split-the-pot is John Kinsella, Drummond – winning €250. We thank everyone for supporting split-the-pot. Envelopes can be obtained from the School or any parent and from Ashling Walsh after weekend Mass in Askamore Church. Draws will take place every Friday morning in Ballyellis School.

Askamore Text Alert are delighted to have processed a substantia­l number of successful applicatio­ns for personal alarms through the Senior Alert Scheme. These alarms enable people to live independen­tly knowing Tunstall Emergency Response operators are available to connect with them 24 hours a day. These alarms afford great peace of mind not only to the users, but to their family and friends. The cost of the equipment plus monitoring fees are covered by Pobal for the first year. GARDENING GROUP

New members are very welcome to join the gardening group. This is a very rewarding hobby and it is very satisfying to enjoy the wonderful fruit and vegetables you have had a part in growing in Le Chéile Park. No knowledge of gardening needed. Ph. Jackie 086 2329865.

FINCHES FITNESS

Pilates classes continue in Askamore at 8.45 a.m. every Wednesday followed by fitness classes at 10 a.m. and Fit for Anything group 11.15-12.15. Contact Declan at 086 8468165.

RURAL TRANSPORT

The local link bus leaves Askamore Church car park at 9.30 a.m. every Tuesday morning and 9.45 on Saturday mornings. This is a vital link to Gorey for many people and we would encourage people to use the service as often as possible. Phone Willie – 087 2449167 – for more informatio­n.

GAA LOTTO

The latest lotto draw wasn’t won. The numbers drawn were 13, 14, 21 and 23. Margaret Carton, Joanne Kenny, Paul and Liz Doran and Mary O’Neill won the Lucky Dips. Jason Redmond won the Sellers’ Prize. The next draw is in the Thatch, Ferns, on Tuesday, February 19, and the jackpot is now €3,600. €2 tickets are available from players and members.

SCOIL AODÁN NAOFA, CARNEW

Scoil Aodán Naofa, Carnew is now accepting enrolments for incoming junior infants for the school year 2019/20. We are pleased to announce this year the opening of a class for children with autism in September 2019 subject to Department of Education funding and the fulfilment of criteria as laid out in the school’s admission policy for it’s ASD Class.

The school has many National Awards to its credit including Active Schools Flag, Green Flag Status, Science and maths awards and School of Excellence awards for Literacy.
