GAA NOTES
Under-7 hurling training for boys and girls has started back on Monday nights in the indoor arena from 6.15 p.m. to 7 p.m. All players should have a hurl, helmet and wear boots when training inside. The cost of each training session is €2 per child.
Well done to Darren Byrne, who became the first Blackwater hurler since James Ormonde in 1965 to line out for the Wexford senior hurling team in league/ championship against Cork in the last weekend. He played the full match at full back and will be hoping to start against Tipp in next week. It’s great to see the Blackwater name among the Wexford hurlers again. Blackwater hurlers were a feature of the Wexford team back in the early 1900s.
Hurling365 will be starting shortly and the club is looking for members to help out. Please contact Joe Cullen if you wish to coach.
Dates for hurling and football are as follows. Week ending March 10 – Round 1 All County Football League. Week ending March 17 – Round 1 All County Hurling League. Week ending March 24 – Round 2 All County Football League. Week ending March 31 – Championship Football (provisional) – should Wexford footballers reach the Div. 4 Final, this round of fixtures be rescheduled for a later date. Week ending April 7 – Championship Football. Week ending April 14 – Championship Hurling. Week ending April 21 – Championship Hurling
2019 club membership is due before March 31. Player €150, player and partner €160, student €70, non-player €60 and non-player and partner €70.
We are still on the lookout for any old memorabilia in the parish. We would love to photograph any old medal especially one of the 1899 or 1901 Leinster or all-Ireland final medals, there must be one floating around the parish? Even any old jerseys.

BE ACTIVE
Members of active retirement are meeting at 10 a.m. every Tuesday morning for a walk at the GAA pitch. Meet other members of our community and walk at your own pace. Try it!
CHURCH CHOIR
Blackwater church choir would love some new members to join. We practice in the church every Thursday night from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Any age group can join or if you can play an instrument or carry a tune. You are all are welcome.
THE WAYSIDE PLAYERS.
The Wayside Players will perform their 3 Act play ‘It’s The Real McCoy’ on Sunday, the 17th of February in the Blackwater Lodge at 7pm and then again on Monday, the 18th of February at 8pm. Admission €5. All support welcome as we prepare for the 2019 3-Act circuit.
