All systems go for Gorey Night Run

- By ESTHER HAYDEN

Plans are well advanced for the fourth annual Gorey night run which takes place this Thursday. The event which is in aid of the North Wexford Hospice Homecare will begin at Gorey Library at 7.30pm.

The event which has raised over €30,000 in its three years has firmly established itself as one of the biggest participation events in County Wexford.

Last year’s event saw over 800 people take to the streets of Gorey and organisers hope that it will be a similar success this year. The night run is open to all ages and fitness levels.

The 5km route which is similar to last year will take in the Avenue, Main Street, the newly named Scholars Way, the road up to Creagh College, down to the Monument, down Paul Funge Boulevard and back to the Civic Square.

There will be some temporary traffic restrictions on all these routes at different times between 7.30 and 8.30 but marshals will be on hand to assist on the night.

Following on from the success of previous years, the organisers are encouraging everyone interested to sign up online at popupraces.ie as soon as possible to claim your free limited edition Gorey Night Runner tee shirt. Entries at €15 for adults and €5 for under 16s will also be accepted on the night.

This promises to be a great night of fun, fresh air and refreshments afterwards.
