Gorey’s première of ‘Bloomsday’

-

A première of Gorey Little Theatre’s production of ‘Bloomsday’ by Steven Dietz will take place this week.

It will run on Wednesday, February 20, until Saturday, February 23, at 8 p.m., before heading out to perform it around the country on the drama festival circuit.

Directed by Tara Ann Byrne, the drama is about Robert who returns to Ireland after 35 years to meet Cait, the woman who one day captured his heart during a James Joyce Ulysses walking tour. Dancing backwards through time, the older couple retrace their steps to look with hindsight at their younger selves. On that day 35 years ago, they found themselves at a fork in the road and now must reflect on the aftermath of the youthful decisions they made.

The cast includes Jan Cullen, Karen Dunbar, Tom Fanthom and Reece Hughes. Tickets are €12, including tea/coffee at interval, and can be purchased online at www.gr8events.ie or bought on the door.
