Stole groceries worth €54

THEFT of €54 worth of groceries from Tesco landed John Ronan (61) from 4 Grattan Terrace, Gorey before the District Court.

The defendant was intercepted by supermarket security staff and the offence on May 4 last was captured on CCTV.

The court was told that the goods were recovered and that Ronan tragically lost his son four years ago.

Solicitor Lana Doherty suggested that he found a certain time of year difficult as a result.

He was bound to the peace for four years.
