Students come up trumps for Family Resource Centre

-

Students from Gorey Further Education and Training Centre raised €710 for the Gorey Family Resource Centre.

Last week, the students presented Anita Carroll from the Resource Centre with the proceeds that were raised from its Christmas monster raffle.

Anita, project manager for the Resource Centre, said the money raised will go towards purchasing some new equipment for their Family Room.

The fundraiser was a part of the students Personal Effectiveness class who, under the guidance of teacher Fiona Wickham, undertook a group project to raise money for a charity.

Various charities were nominated and they eventually selected the Gorey Family Resource Centre. They spent a number of weeks canvassing to local businesses for donations of prizes and the response was fantastic.

The raffle was held in December and it raised a total of €710. The staff and students from Gorey Further Education and Training Centre thanked all the local businesses for their kind contributions.
