BREE MACRA
Well done to the Bree Macra debating team of Niall Doyle, Sinéad Doyle, Johanna Wickham and Áine Doyle, who have qualified for the National semi-final of the FBD Sponsored Debating competition. They beat a team from Cavan in round of sixteen in Clane, Co Kildare and defeated Kilmacthomas from Waterford in the quarter final held near Youghal. They take on East Laois in the semi-final in Tullamore next Saturday night.
PLAYGROUND MEETING
An additional meeting with a view to setting up a committee to take over the monitoring of Bree Community Playground will be held in Bree Community Centre on Monday, February 25, at 7 p.m. Phase two of this project will begin shortly. The support of parents of young children would be deeply appreciated. If anyone is unable to attend this meeting but would like to be of assistance to this committee, please contact Bree Development Group Sec, Clare Doyle at 087 4151350.

ST PATRICK’S WEEKEND RUN/WALK
Galbally Sports and Leisure Club will host a 10k run and 5k walk on bank holiday Monday, March 18. The event will begin at 11 a.m., with registration taking place from 10 a.m. onwards. Entry fee is €5 for the 5k walk and €10 for the 10k run. Both events are open to all ages and abilities. The 10k race will be chip timed and there will be prizes for the first man and woman home. Refreshments will be served to all participants in the hall afterwards. Everyone is invited to come along and get involved in what promises to be a great community event.
