MONART Destination Spa is to open a luxury day spa at Poundbury, in Dorset, England, which is part of the Duchy of Cornwall estate.

The Wexford business’s day spa is set to become a luxury attraction in the heart of the Prince of Wales estate - which is one the UK’s most prestigious locations.

The move marks the first foray into the UK for the multi award-winning Enniscorthy business - which is ranked as one of the top 10 spas in the world.

Speaking about the development Liam Anthony Griffin, who is a director of Monart Spa, Poundbury, said everyone involved with the business is excited about the UK expansion.

‘We are thrilled and honoured to be working in partnership with the Duchy of Cornwall and CG Fry and Son, on the development of Monart Spa, Poundbury,’ he said.

‘Monart is all about bringing health and wellbeing to the community [and] offering a sanctuary to de-stress and forget about the pressures of everyday life,’ he added.

Guests of the Poundbury day spa will be able to treat themselves to half or full day package options of spa treatments all delivered by expert therapists.

Mr Griffin said clients will also be able to avail of a world-class thermal suite including caldarium, sauna, salt grotto, infrared pro cabin, aroma steam rooms and stunning hydrotherapy pool.

‘With no membership required, we offer guests a rejuvenating and therapeutic retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern life,’ said Mr Griffin.

The launch of Monart Spa marks a significant milestone in the Duchy’s of Cornwall’s investment in Poundbury and is a key highlight for its luxury apartments at Royal Pavilion, in Queen Mother Square, the central hub and heart of Poundbury.

‘Monart Spa will offer a truly superb venue appealing to both the local community and attracting new guests from across Dorset and much further afield,’ said Mr Griffin.

Ben Murphy, Estate Director at Duchy of Cornwall, also highlighted how the addition of Monart day spa will prove very beneficial to the overall offering at Poundbury.

‘Day spa visitors will offer a great opportunity to the other 200 independent businesses, shops, cafes and restaurants that make Poundbury such a compelling place to live, work and visit,’ he said.

Based on the ground floor of Royal Pavilion, Queen Mother Square, the flagship development is being constructed by premium south west builders, CG Fry & Son Ltd, whose managing director, Philip Fry, commented: ‘The Royal Pavilion development is a significant architectural landmark for Poundbury and home to our luxurious collection of 20 apartments.’

He said the joint venture with the Duchy of Cornwall brings design standards normally associated with Knightsbridge in London to Dorchester.

With regard to Monart Spa he commented: ‘Now residents will have the added pleasure of having a world-class spa on their doorstep too.’

Monart Spa, Poundbury, will be open six days a week and will offer day, half-day, and evening packages along with treatment-only options ranging from £85.

Light spa food, drinks and snacks - using produce from local producers - will be served during the day at the spa lounge.

The CEO of Monart Spa, Poundbury, Michael Griffin, said: ‘We are very excited to be part of the Poundbury community and look forward to working alongside the successful independent local businesses already established.’
