Tributes flow for beloved Kate

TRIBUTES poured in across North Wexford for the late Kate D’Arcy of Roney Point, Courtown following the untimely passing of the young mother of four, who was involved with a number of community activities locally.

As a mark of respect, Gorey Rugby Football Club cancelled all weekend youth home games due to the family’s heavy involvemen­t with the club.

‘Our condolence­s from everyone at Gorey RFC go to Pat, Eva, Zoe, Harry, Sarah and the entire D’Arcy family,’ the club said in a statement.

Tributes like this were shared by Gorey Parkrun, Gaelscoil Moshíológ and Ceol Mo Chroí among others.

Kate’s funeral took place on Saturday and she is survived by her husband Patrick, children Eva, Harry, Zoe and Sarah, mother Eileen, brother Brian as well as extended family and friends.

TRIBUTES for loving young mum of four, Kate D’Arcy (nee Plested) of Roney Point, Courtown, Gorey poured in last week following her untimely passing.

The beloved wife of Patrick D’Arcy, daughter of Eileen and the late John Plested and sister of Brian, she was heavily involved in local activities with her family.

All Gorey Rugby Football Club home youth matches were cancelled at the weekend as well as some training sessions as a mark of respect for the late Kate.

Pat D’Arcy is a Gorey Ruby Football Club coach and three of the couple’s children are players at the club.

Gorey Rugby Football Club said that ‘Our thoughts go out to Pat D’Arcy and his family on the death of his wife Kate. Condolence­s from all at Gorey RFC’.

The active Kate often took part in charity runs such as the Courtown Colour Run and as well as this she enjoyed taking part in the Gorey Parkrun, totalling 29 occasions, and she was also a frequent volunteer there with her family.

‘On behalf of everyone at Gorey Parkrun, we’d like to express our deepest sympathies to her family and friends,’ the group said in a statement on social media, describing feeling extreme sadness.

The group Ceol Mo Chroí also extended a heartfelt sympathy, particular­ly aimed at ‘Patrick and their beautiful children’.

Gaelscoil Moshíológ also shared a tribute and shared sincere sympathy, as all of four children had been attending the school.

Kate D’Arcy’s funeral took place on Saturday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Riverchape­l.

Kate is survived by her husband Patrick, children Eva, Harry, Zoe and Sarah, mother Eileen, brother Brian, extended family, relatives and friends.
