Hollywood fever has taken over Askamore

-

The hills and valleys around Askamore are filling with excitement as the community there are busy in preparation for their ‘Hollywood comes to Askamore’ fundraising event, due to take place at the Amber Springs on Saturday, October 26.

Padraig O’Connor of Askamore Community Council said that since the end of April when the first casting night was held, that things have just gotten busier and busier for all involved.

‘The last few months have kept everyone busy as there has been a hive of activity in the area with all the group fundraisers from each of the seven groups.

‘The groups had to reach their minimum target of €2,500 and there have been all kinds of various fundraisers including table quizzes, a tractor run, first goal scratch cards, a pop-up shop, card drives, pokemon hunt to name but a few,’ he said.

The funds raised will be split equally between Ballyellis National School and Askamore Community Centre for refurbishments.

‘There was great craic over the two weekends of filming which saw all the hours of rehearsals and the making of props come to fruition. The seven films on the night are Forrest Gump, Sister Act, Fr. Ted, One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, The Field, Waking Ned and Derry Girls,’ said Padraig.

The invitation to come along on the night is extended to all of North Wexford and afar, and tickets costing €20 are now available from the Ballyellis National School or from Padraig by calling 087 1260192

They can also be purchased on the door on the night.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. and a night of fun filled night of glitz and glamour is expected as the red carpet will be rolled out in style.
