CLONEE LADIES’ GAA CLUB.

Behind the scenes our dancers are working away, strutting their stuff and practising their dance moves in preparatio­n for our Strictly Club Dancing. Meanwhile our fundraisin­g ventures continue with two fundraiser­s coming up next week. All proceeds are going towards the upkeep and developmen­t of our Clubhouse and grounds.

The Card Drive fundraiser held last Friday night in Clonee GAA Complex was a great success. Huge thanks to John, who ran the events for us. Many thanks to all who sponsored raffle prizes, bought tickets, played or helped in any way on the night. Your support is much appreciate­d. The winners are one st Prize James Tomkins Askamore and Bridget Byrne Kilbora. Two nd prize David O’Sullivan Clonee and Selina Sinnott Gorey. Three rd Prize Luke O’Connor Kiltown and Thomas Furlong Craanford. Congratula­tions and well done to all our winners.

The next fundraiser for Clonee Ladies’ Football Strictly is a table quiz on Friday, October 18, at 8.30 p.m. in Parkside, Camolin. Table of four is €40. There will be a raffle on the night and your support would be much appreciate­d.

Tractor/Vintage Car Run – A Heads Up for a Tractor/Vintage Car Run. This fundraiser for Clonee Ladies’ Football Strictly will take place on Sunday, October 20, from Clonee GAA Complex.

FERNS BFRIENDLY

Are you or do you know an older person living alone in the Ferns or surroundin­g areas including Camolin, Ballyduff and Clologue? Would you like to receive a free weekly phone call from specially trained and Garda Vetted local volunteers from Ferns Bfriendly. This service offers friendship and support to older people living in these areas as well as providing security and helping clients feel safer at home.

If you would like more informatio­n on this a Drop-In Informatio­n event for potential users, family members or interested members of the community will be held on Tuesday, October 15, from 3.00 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Library Bar, The Courtyard, Ferns. All are welcome to attend and meet the volunteers running the service. Tea or coffee and refreshmen­ts will be available. This initiative is supported by Wexford County Council and Wexford Local Community Developmen­t Committee.

DEVELOPMEN­T GROUP

Work continues in Ballyduff; all help and support is appreciate­d and we’re always delighted to see new faces. Follow Ballyduff Developmen­t Group Facebook page for info on what’s happening or if you want to share ideas. We’re delighted to have received an extra 10 points in this year’s Tidy Towns Competitio­n. Thanks to everyone who help and continue to support our work in any way.

HEALTH TALK

All are invited to a health talk in the Courtyard Ferns on Friday, November 8, on the theme of nutrition for the prevention of cancer.
