SENIOR CAMOGIE

Oulart-The Ballagh senior camogie team contested the Co. Championsh­ip Final against St Martin’s in torrential rain on Saturday, October 5, in Bellefield and despite the atrocious weather, both teams played some really good camogie, with the rivals finishing level at the final whistle. The replay will take place at the same venue on Sunday, October 13, and the result will be in the sports pages of this paper on Tuesday the 15th.

UNDER-14 CAMOGIE

Congratula­tions to the under-14 camogie team on winning the 12-a-side Shield Final by deteating Rapparees on a scoreline of six goals eight points to two goals two points. Thank you and well done to the hard-working team mentors Nicola Doyle, Niamh Sinnott, Ger Martin and Lisa Kenny, who put in so much work with the team throughout the year. The after-match celebratio­ns were greatly enjoyed by the youngsters.

CAMOGIE FUNDRAISER

Oulart-The Ballagh camogie club is hosting a ‘Look GoodFeel Good’ Day on Sunday, November 24, in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorth­y, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be various demonstrat­ions and a Fashion Show throughout the afternoon as well as numerous stands and artisan foods on display around the room. Anyone wishing to take a stand should contact Kathryn at 087 2538105 as soon as possible.

UNDER-15 HURLING

Our under-15 boys will play the semi-final of the Roinn one championsh­ip, versus Cloughbawn, on Saturday, September 19, in St Patrick’s Park, beginning at 11 a.m. Best of luck to the players and mentors. Supporters are encouraged to provide lots of vocal support.

NURSERY TRAINING/ UNDER-7BOYS

The Nursery Training and under-seven boys training finished on Saturday, October 5, with lots of fun and games. The children were presented with Certificat­es by Shauna Sinnott and Rory Jacob. Míle buíochas to Eileen Codd for co-ordinating the Nursery all summer. She did a brilliant job organising the rota and pitch preparatio­ns every Saturday morning and our GPO, Neill McCrea is thanked for his input too. Sincere thanks also to Annette Redmond and mentors Paddy Martin, Brendan Wickham and Gavin for their work with the under-seven boys.

MARTIN STOREY TOURNAMENT

This under-14 hurling Tournament has been a great success in the past and this year promises to continue the trend. The first matches will be played this Sunday, October 20, when Oulart-The Ballagh are at home to St Martin’s at 11 a.m. Why not attend and see for yourselves the talented up-and-coming hurlers that are in our club?

GAA LOTTO

The lotto draw takes place every two weeks and the Prizefund has reached €14,600. All money from the lotto go to the upkeep and maintenanc­e of the club. Tickets are available from club members and local businesses. Tickets cost a mere two euro each and there are five Luck Dip prizes of €30 to be won in each fortnightl­y draw. We would appeal to everyone to support the lotto.

HEALTHY CLUB STATUS

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club is one of 84 GAA Clubs, across the 32 counties who completed Phase three of the ‘Healthy Clubs’ Project and were recognised as an Official GAA Healthy Club at the National Healthy Club Conference in Croke Park on October 5. Our club is one of 16 clubs nationwide who have successful­ly implemente­d a smokefree policy. This and many other initiative­s were introduced and promoted by our health and Well-being officer, Breda Flood, who deserves the highest praise for her diligence, enthusiasm and hard work in this important area. She along with fellow – activist Catherine Murphy attended the awards ceremony in Croke Park.
