‘NO CONNECTION’ SENDS SIGNAL OF INTENT

- By BRENDAN KEANE

ONE of County Wexford’s newest rock bands has just released one of the most exciting tracks to be released by any act from the county in recent times.

Foot Squeaker, composed of Diarmuid Comerford (vox/ guitars), Mick Byrne (bass/vox) and Mike Lynch (drums/vox), formed in 2018 and the members shared one vision from the very start - everything would be full on rock ‘n’ roll.

After forming Mike and Diarmuid spent the best part of the first year crafting the songs while Mike applied quality control to ‘the riffage’ aspect of the material.

As lead vocalist, Diarmuid, said the band is different to other acts he’s been involved with in the past.

‘I always felt in other bands there would be too many lulls in the live sets,’ he said.

‘We were going to keep the energy up [with] rockers only,’ he added.

With the addition of Mick Byrne, on bass, in early 2019 all of the ingredients were in place for the band to begin to make its mark.

The band’s debut single, ‘No Connection’, begins with a sombre, Hammond organ type keyboard motif before a grinding guitar riff kicks in.

There is an industrial rock feel to the track, however, Diarmuid’s vocals provide a commercial, melodic vibe to the track.

Th video was filmed on the streets of Gorey in the early hours of the morning while the members adhered to all current social distance guidelines.

The fact the streets of the town were empty while filming was taking place actually adds to the almost cataclysmic vibe of the track and the fact the video’s main characters are wearing face scarves creates an apocalyptic feel.

The song is about how genetics does not always mean a guaranteed connection to the people in our lives.

The single was recorded in

January this year, along with four other tracks, at Hellfire Studios in Dublin.

At the helm was Ivan Jackman, who has worked with acts ranging from Chad Channing and Girlband, to Sinéad O’Connor.

‘No Connection’ will be launched on all digital platforms on Friday, May 29, followed by the official video the following day and to find out more go to www.footsqueaker. com where you can click on a pre-save link to the song.
