Rathnure girls rule in Rackard League final

-

FRESH FROM their mini-sevens and Féile triumphs, Rathnure completed a notable treble when they captured the Allianz Rackard League Roinn ‘A’ camogie title with a 4-4 to 1-0 win over Oulart in Wexford Park on May 18, 2005.

A Chloe Nolan goal inside two minutes gave the eventual winners a flying start, but their rivals responded when Louise Sinnott netted at the other end.

At that juncture the influence of Eimear O’Connor began to tell, as the youngest of Teddy and Anne’s talented daughters grabbed a goal and a point just before half-time.

It was 2-2 to 1-0 at the interval, and Rathnure doubled their own tally on the re-start while holding their rivals scoreless.

Shannen O’Connell marshalled the defence in superb style, while Caitríona Holohan, Laura Redmond and Eimear O’Connor chipped in with the vital scores.
