Number of motorists fined

Fines were handed down to motorists convicted at the District Court sitting in Wexford on Wednesday, May 20, for offences committed last year.

Learner permit holder Eric James Valentine (20), 20 Willow Park, Gorey, was found on the road at Tomsilla without a qualified driver in his vehicle on August 5. He was fined €120.

Gary Byrne (58), 1 Baile Eoghan, Gorey, was summonsed as the owner of a vehicle examined by a garda in Gorey on August 13. The tax appeared to have expired in June. He was fined €150.

Aishling O’Brien (24), The Elms, Park Avenue, Gorey, was a passenger in a grey Toyota stopped by Garda Vincent Downes on the afternoon of September 24 in Rafter Street. She was not wearing her safety belt and collected a fine of €140.

Patrick Kearney (24), 18 An Ban, Riverchapel, was found not to have his safety belt in place at a checkpoint in Rafter Street in September 24. He was fined €120.
