UNDER-7

INTRODUCTI­ON BATTING THE BALL 1) Static.

2) From the ready position, extend hurl above the head, thumbs facing the bas.

3) Eye on the ball at all times, swing the hurl forward and bat the ball with the bas of the hurl.

ACTIVITY Start by throwing up a balloon for the child to hit, and then move on to a ball.

See how many successful strikes can be done in a row.

UNDER-11

JUMP TO BAT THE BALL

ON THE MOVE 1) Move towards the ball. 2) Jump and try to hit the ball at the highest point.

3) Try to direct the ball towards your target.

ACTIVITY

Ask the person throwing the ball to vary the height so you have to hit it.

How many times in a row can you bat it back to the thrower?

UNDER-15

BAT BALL COMING FROM VARIOUS DIRECTIONS

Have whoever is throwing the ball moving around so the ball is coming from different angles.

ACTIVITY

Set up different targets and try to hit them.

Give different points for different targets.

BAT BALL UNDER PRESSURE 1) Work in pairs (if possible). 2) A person throws a ball up between the two - one tries to flick it on, and the other tries to bat it down.

ACTIVITY

Ten balls, and see who gets more ‘flicks’ or ‘bats’.
