KILTEALY CARDIAC FIRST RESPONSE.

Kiltealy

Cardiac

First Response

has been in operation since January 21, 2010. It was set up to provide support to the ambulance service in the event of a cardiac emergency in the Kiltealy area.

The ambulance services automatically sends a message to the response team when a cardiac emergency has been identified. The on duty volunteer then attends the emergency and administers appropriate CPR to the patient. This continues till the ambulance services arrive and takes over. Volunteers go through a regular training programme having to be fully validated every two years and have refresher training sessions every six months. The whole project has included involvement from everyone in the community, from the volunteers to the person that put a euro in the collection bucket at the church gate.

New volunteers are always welcome in order to provide more comprehensive coverage. Because they are a voluntary group fundraising is ongoing, it is necessary to raise funds locally in order to pay for the equipment and training, so far all funds have come from fundraising and the generosity of the local community and businesses and the annual craft fair every November.

Thanks to the local community for your ongoing support of Kiltealy Voluntary Cardiac First response, a valuable service in your area.
