CRAANFORD- MONASEED CHURCH NEWS

CRAANFORD MASSES – We are in a time of transition in relation to the celebration of Masses. I have appreciated the large online congregation that has built up over the last few months and do not wish to disrupt it till the situations is more settled. Therefore, for continuity, from June 29 I will celebrate weekday Mass in the Oratory of the church at 10 a.m. Monday to Friday. The Saturday Vigil Mass at 6 p.m. and

Sunday Mass at 10.30 a.m. will be celebrated in the main church. Both weekday and Sunday Masses will be broadcast live on the Parish Facebook page. I will continue with this up to August 7. Fr Brian Whelan will begin celebrating Mass here on Saturday, August 8. I hope this helps our transition to the new normal.

Here are some points to consider for Craanford.

1. Holy Water will not be used.

2. Hand sanitisers will be available in the church porch. Please use on entry and exit.

3. Please follow the guidelines for movement on the church floor. On entry use the left aisle and follow the arrows to your seat. Only every second seat will be available for use. All movements will be anti-clockwise.

4. To optimise the number of usable seats families are asked to sit together.

5. Contributions to the parish and the priest are invited in the appropriate boxes inside the church door. No collections will be taken up during Mass. Your support is appreciated.

6. For health and safety reasons at this time Altar Servers, Readers and Eucharistic Ministers will not be necessary.

7. Communion is to be received on the hand.

8. The maximum number of people we can accommodate within the building at any liturgy is 60. The outside speaker will be utilised to facilitate those who may be outside.

9. When outside please observe the 2 meter social distancing guideline.

10. Seats will be sanitised after each liturgy.

11. Toilet facilities will be available. You are asked to observe the hygiene routine.

I thank the members of the parish council for their input and hope these arrangements will facilitate our safe and orderly return to worship and I look forward to welcoming you home to St Patrick’s Church, Craanford. Sincerely, Fr Richard.

Monaseed Patron – is due to take place on Friday, July 3. For this year Fr Felix will pray for all those interred there at the 9.30 a.m. Mass on that day and afterwards he will visit the cemetery to bless the graves. You are encouraged to visit at your convenience and pray for the dead.

CONFIRMATION AND COMMUNION – Happily we had completed Confirmations for both parish schools just before Lockdown. In Craanford First Confessions were also completed and First Holy Communion has been re-scheduled to September 26.

Eucharistic Adoration – This is suspended for the time being. However, both churches of the parish remain open for daily prayer.

MASS INTENTIONS – 6 p.m. Saturday, July 4: James and Susan Kavanagh, Ballygullen.

The parish office is now open again between 9.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. You can call at 087 3633965 to book online anniversary Masses. You can get Mass cards. There are also a number of Confirmation photos here in the office: two Craanford pupils and three Monaseed Pupils.

MASS ONLINE – Daily Mass is being broadcast live from the parish Facebook page at 10 a.m. every morning. Apart from parishioners logging on, we have had visitors from other parts of the county and country and abroad tuning in live. You are all very welcome among us always but never more so than during these difficult and trying times.

VISITS TO SICK AND HOUSEBOUND – Out of concern for the wellbeing of our sick and Housebound I will not make my April visits to them with Holy Communion. However, I am always available on request. In the event that pastoral support is needed in Monaseed please also contact me (087 6923280) as Fr Felix is cocooning and should not be involved in pastoral work at this time. I will keep the situation under review and normal activity will hopefully resume as soon as possible. In the meantime, stay safe. Fr Richard.
