Mattress Mick confirms location for new Gorey store

HAVING carefully searched for the right premises for months, legendary mattress mogul Michael Flynn, aka Mattress Mick, has unveiled the chosen location for his latest “superstore” in Co Wexford.

Without doubt the most instantly recognisable and famous mattress salesman in the country, Mick had put out an appeal back in October looking for somewhere to set up shop in the Model County.

Now he has found a place to call his Wexford home – Unit 24 in Gorey Business Park – and the store will open on April 3.

The Gorey store will feature over 50 brands of beds and mattresses as well as bedroom furniture and Sliderobes in a 5,5000 sq m unit. Speaking about why he chose to open his latest store in Gorey, Mick says that it was “on his hitlist for some time”.

“When I decided to branch out of Dublin, I made a short list of towns and cities that I wanted to open in, and Wexford was right at the top of that list,” he said.

“It took us longer than I expected to find the right premises but thankfully, with the perfect premises, we also found the perfect town. Gorey is an absolute gem of a town and I can’t wait to get to know it, and its people better.”

With each store, Mattress Mick’s also provide a Community Chest, which offers funding and sponsorship throughout the year to various worthy clubs and charities.

It was following the recession of the late noughties that Mick reinvented himself and his wacky sales style of crazy videos, funny songs and media appearances gained him a bit of a following.

However, he insists that despite his “crazy carry on”, he’s “dead serious about mattresses”.

“Life is too short to not have fun, but it’s also too short to not have a quality mattress,” Mick beams. “I’ve been saying it for years - the two most important things to invest your money in are your shoes and a mattress because if you’re not in one, you’re in the other!”

Mick says that he’ll be having an official opening in his Gorey store in the coming weeks with celebrity guests, giveaways and a big sale, but until then, he invites everyone to come down and say hello and pick a mattress that will change their life, as soon as the store opens on April 3.
