Maggie Owley was a joyous woman and full of fun

TRIBUTES have poured in for a “generous and joyous woman” of The Rock, Gorey as she passed away on Thursday, March 14 following an illness.

Maggie (née Fleming) Owley was the beloved wife of the late Bill and loving mother of P, John, Mary, Liam and Wendy, sister of Paddy, Betty, Jack, Una, and the late Jim.

Many mourners expressed their sympathies on RIP.ie: “It is with great sadness that we hear of the passing of Maggie. A beautiful lady inside and out. I had many a mug of tea and a few slices of her famous brown bread. What a treat. May your gentle soul rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families at this time.”

Another mourner wrote: “To the Owley family, sending you my deepest sympathy on the passing of your treasured Mam. She had a heart of gold. Maggie travelled every corner of Ireland with sports with her children, hunts, Irish dancing Maggie was a beautiful person and always with a smile for all. Rest in Peace and dance a reel with Bill again.”

“Deepest sympathies to all the Owley and Fleming families, I have wonderful memories of Maggie before she was sick. A beautiful lady, so full of fun.”

Maggie is deeply regretted by her sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, her 14 grandchild­ren and 17 great-grandchild­ren, sons-in-law Kevin and Colm, daughters-in-law Anna-Marie, Mary and Eilish, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Maggie was laid to rest in Limbrick Cemetery, Kilanerin on Monday, March 18 following her funeral mass at St. Michael’s Church, Gorey.
