AFTERNOON TEA IN OULART

The Community of Oulart Women’s Society, popularly known as “The COWS” are hosting a fund-raising Afternoon Tea in Oulart Community Centre, on Sunday 21st April, beginning at 3pm.

There is a charge of €15 per person, with all the proceeds going towards developing the Oulart Community Accessible Sensory Garden. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. You’ll be guaranteed delicious food, good company and an afternoon of chat and renewing old acquaintan­ces. Tell your friends!

WEXFORD MINOR HURLING

The Wexford Minors travel to

Parnell 20th Park, next Saturday April, to play Dublin in the first round of the Minor Champion- ship, with throw-in at 2pm.

Oulart-The Ballagh’s involvemen­t includes Michael Jacob, (Team Manager) Helena Jacob (Selector & Coach) and Brendan Cruise (Statistics). Jack Dunne is captain of the team and joining him on the panel are Peter & Rhys Wickham, Oisín Moore, Ben Harpur and Martin Dempsey. Go néirí an tádh leo go léir.

UNDER 20 HURLING

Well done to Oulart-The Ballagh’s Simon Roche and his team-mates on the Wexford Under 20 hurling team, on their display against Laois, last Saturday in Wexford Park.

The game ended in a draw, with Simon contributi­ng 0-9, (including 2 frees) which was half of Wexford’s score of 18 points. Wexford Under 20s are now through to a Leinster quarter-final that is scheduled for Wednesday 8th May.

STORYTELLI­NG HOUSE

The Bygone Days House of Stories in Lower Oulart was packed to capacity for the latest session that was held on Monday 8th April.

Visitors from Australia and England attended, as well as attendees from Wicklow, Carlow and Dublin, along with the usual Wexicans or Wexfordian­s.

The music, singing and recitation­s were “den chéad scoth”, as were the refreshmen­ts offered by Bean a’Tí, Eileen Dempsey, while her Fear Chéile John was a welcoming and encouragin­g, Fear a’Tí.

WHEELS FOR SARAH-LOUISE

The Oulart Hill Bar will host a Big Bingo Night, at 7pm, on Sunday 28th April, in aid of Sarah-Louise Fortune, to help purchase a new Wheelchair -Accessible Bus that is suitable for her wheelchair needs. All books will cost €10 and there will be a special sheet, on the night.

There will be great prize-money, plus a raffle, with a night of fun guaranteed. All support would be greatly appreciate­d and would mean the world to Sarah-Louise. There is also a Facebook page called “New Wheels for Sarah-Louise” where you can read Sarah-Louis’s story and you can also find her GOFUND ME link. TRACKS & TRAILS ON RTE

GAA Analyst and former Wexford camogie star, Ursula Jacob will feature on the popular RTE I programme “Tracks & Trails” on Friday 26th April, beginning at 7.30pm. She will be shown undertakin­g a Walk in Kerry and will meet interestin­g guests along the way.

MODEL COUNTY TICKETS

The annual Club & County Draw 2024, organised by Wexford GAA, will take place at the end of April (1st Draw) and end of May (2nd & 3rd Draws). There is a prize find of €100,000.

OULART ICA

The monthly meeting of Oulart ICA took place, in Oulart Community Centre on 11th April.

In the absence of the Guild President, Anne Byrne, the Secretary Anne O’Connor presided. Kathleen Hyland who was hostess of the evening served a delicious tea. Kathleen also won the raffle.

Anne O’Connor (Solo Singing) and Breda Jacob (Recitation) will represent the Guild at “ICA’s Got Talent”, in Camross Hall, later in the month.
