Monaseed NS to hold memorial golf classic

-

THE first annual Father Felix Rumble in aid of Monaseed National School is set to take place on Friday, April 26 at Coolattin Golf Club.

Around 20 teams will take part in the competition and there are still spaces available. The first tee off will be at 10a.m. and will continue until 12 midday. A number of teams that cannot make the earlier tee time will be able to play after 4p.m. as well.

Funds raised will go towards the upkeep and running costs of Monaseed National School. “I don’t have the exact figures but they did a survey a few years ago and the department funding covers about 40 per cent of what schools need,” said Principal of Monaseed National School, Máire Coates.

The golf classic is in memory of Fr Felix Byrne who’s family have sponsored a trophy for the winning team. This trophy will be presented to the winning team each year.

There will also be several prizes up for grabs on the day; The Ashdown Hotel have sponsored prizes for the event, Seafield have sponsored an afternoon tea for two, Ballymoney Golf Club and Coolattin have both sponsored a four ball and Siopa Beag in Craanford are going to supply snacks for the teams.

Individual tickets cost €50 and a team of four costs €200. To sign up, call Carol at 0879408823.
