1 MY LEONARD COHEN: The National Opera House are delighted to welcome the talented Stewart D’Arrietta and his excellent band to perform in honour of the late, great musician and poet that was Leonard Cohen. Stewart D’Arrietta and his band will take to the stage to start their amazing renditions of the best loved works of Leonard Cohen such as ‘So Long, Marianne’, ‘Suzanne’, and of course ‘Hallelujah’. The performanc­e promises to wow audiences, offering new and refreshing arrangemen­ts of Cohen’s songs, powered by D’Arrietta’s raw vocals. D’Arrietta has had a successful and long career as a music director, performer and composer, performing in venues around the world from New York to Tokyo and even selling out the Sydney Opera House. This is his first performanc­e in the Wexford National Opera House, and he promises to make it just as incredible as his worldwide shows. This is not a show to be missed. 2 SPRINGMOVE­S DANCE FESTIVAL: SpringMove­s Dance Festival is set to take place on Saturday, May 11. This festival celebrates a wide range of dancing from traditiona­l Irish dancing to contempora­ry and even hip-hop. Audiences of all ages are invited to watch and if they want to, join in. There is a day full of activities planned, starting with a dance workshop in the National Opera House at 10 a.m. The festival goes to a range of places throughout the day such as the Wexford Arts Centre at 11.30 a.m., the Bullring at 1.pm., Cikada Circus at 2.30 p.m., back to the Opera House at 4 p.m. and then finishing in the Wexford Arts Centre at 7.30 p.m. Informatio­n is available from https://springmove­s.ie/.

3 CONOR AND LUC WITH FRIENDS: Fresh off their incredible success in Norway, selling out two different shows, Conor Kenny and Luc Power are taking to the stage in the Enniscorth­y Presentati­on Centre on Friday May 10 at 8 p.m. With Luc’s amazing vocals and Conor’s excellent playing of the flute, banjo and guitar, this event is set to be special. 4 SHEDFEST: Shedfest is one of Wexford’s longest running annual music festivals. The festival offers either incredible outdoor or indoor entertainm­ent. There will be a range of musical talent on display with 6 live bands performing as well as 2 top notch DJs. The famous quote for the festival, ‘What Happens in the Shed, stays in the Shed’ is sure to be used on the night of May 11. Doors will open at 6 p.m. The festival will be happening in the Buffers Alley GAA Grounds. 5 DARKNESS INTO LIGHT: New Ross are delighted to be taking part once again in the annual early morning walk of hope. The 5 kilometre walk is aimed to last roughly an hour, starting at 4.15 a.m. This year the event will be commencing in the Irishtown area and will follow a slightly different route around the outskirts of New Ross town centre. The volunteer committee of Jennifer O’Brien Horvath, Helen Bradley, Ben Dolan and Regina Roche will work with Womens Shed New Ross to look after stewarding and collection of donations, although most donations will likely take place online. The main aim is to collect funds for the suicide hotline, Pieta House, particular­ly now as they have services set up in Co. Wexford. Donations can be made via www.darknessin­tolight.ie/donate.

6 THE JUNGLE BOOK MUSICAL: Innovation­s Theatre School have been working hard throughout the last year in preparatio­n for their annual production. Last year, their incredible rendition of ‘Charlie & The Chocolate Factory’ was a smash hit, with every night being sold out and a great buzz amongst the community afterward. This year, the talented theatre group have set their sights on ‘The Jungle Book’, another well-loved children’s movie. The tale follows Mowgli, a young boy raised by wolves in a jungle. He has many lovable friends such as Baloo the bear, Bagheera the panther and the not so friendly python, Kaa. Innovation­s Theatre School adapt the musical in their own unique way, mixing modern songs in with the classic melodies already featured in ‘The Jungle Book’. Performanc­es will be taking place on May 9, 10 and 11. Doors are at 7 p.m. for all evening performanc­es with the show itself starting at 7.30 p.m. There is also an afternoon performanc­e at 3.p.m on May 11. 7 THESE CHARMING MEN: Crown Live on Monck Street is set to have its roof blown off on Saturday May 11 at 8 p.m. These Charming Men, originally from Dublin, were formed in 1995. They are a tribute band for both The Smiths and Morrissey and said to be “Spooky, spot on” according to Smiths member, Andy Rourke. Morrisey also gave them their flowers, stating “I’m very impressed and flattered by what they do”. These Charming Men impress audiences all over the world with their energetic and passionate shows, having performed annually at the Annual Smiths/Morrissey Convention in Los Angeles since 2001. This is a must-see event for Smiths or Morrissey fans. Tickets cost €17.94.
