SOCCER NEWS

St. Cormac’s men’s team played their final game of the season on Thursday the 16th. of May, away to Ferns United. With only 11 players available the side was understrength but got the game off to a great start when Jamie Dempsey-Doyle pounced on a kickout from the Ferns keeper and smashed home a great goal from 25m out.

Ferns drew level near the 30th. minute and pulled a goal ahead just before the interval. Our team was reduced to 10 men when Mark Walsh was injured and Ferns went on to score twice more and win the game by 4-1.

After a difficult start to the season, a mid-table finish leaves the team hungry for deserved success next season.

The team are hoping that their Captain, Johnny Fitzgerald will be eventually chosen as Division 4 player of the season, an honour well deserved by him.
