Houston, San Diego, Seattle, Detroit, Dallas and Atlanta are all believed to be on the shortlist as Aer Lingus plan to add ten new Ireland-US routes over the next five years. CEO Willie Walsh revealed the expansion - but not the destinations - last week.
We’re major fans of Detroit, the resurgent Motor City, which has a Hitsville USA museum dedicated to its proud musical heritage.
Talking of which, “the musical culture of a nation” will be celebrated from June 22-November 25, 2018 in the National Museum of Scotland. From Lonnie Donegan, Lulu and Fast Records to Alan McGeee, Calvin Harris and Biffy Clyro, all forms of Caledonian musical life will feature in the as-yet-untitled exhibition.

Originally slated for this month, Ryanair has delayed the introduction of its new cabin bag policy until January 15. From that date, only Priority Boarders will be allowed to bring a second bag into the cabin with them. The good news is that they’ve upped the weight-limit for check-in bags to 20kg and slashed the cost from €35 to €25, which is great if you want to bring an extra three bottles of booze, average weight 1.5kg, back from your getaway.
