-

Hot Press were among the cheerleaders in May when

the Rusangano Family’s Let The Dead Bury The Dead was adjudged to be the RTÉ

Choice Music Prize Album of the Year.

Reviewing it the previous April, our man Paul Nolan had praised its “impressive musical eclecticism and lyrical focus on social and political issues. Essential listening for hip hop lovers.”

The Limerick-based trio whose members hail from Togo, Zimbabwe and Ennis fought off stiff competition from All Tvvins, Bantum, Wallis Bird, The Divine Comedy, Lisa Hannigan,

Katie Kim, James Vincent McMorrow, We Cut Corners and Overhead, The Albatross to bag their €10,000 prize cheque.

The public vote for Song of the Year resulted in victory for Picture This’ ‘Take My Hand’.

Ryan Hennessy and Jimmy Rainsford, who celebrated the release of their selftitled debut in August with a superhero Hot Press cover, ended their amazing 2018 with a brace of sellout 3Arena shows.
