Ailie Blunnie is a singer-songwriter from Leitrim who released her debut album West To The Evening Sun last November to great acclaim. The collection took four years to complete and was recorded in Limerick with Sarah Dukes.
Ailie performed at Whelan’s Ones To Watch in January and has just announced her biggest headline show to date in the venue on March 18. She has dubbed her eclectic sonic stylings “urban Celtic folk-pop”, and her vocals have drawn comparisons to Sinead Lohan and Agnes Obel. In this issue’s Soapbox, she addresses the topic of perceptions of success.
