The cracking new single from Dublin alt-rock trio Bitch Falcon leads the way on the domestic front this fortnight.
The impressively monikered Dublin alt-rock trio Bitch Falcon release new single ‘Prime Number’ on October 18. Since the release of debut ‘Wolfstooth’, the band have gained a huge following for their infectious mix of rock, grunge, metal, hardcore and melodic electro-pop. Follow-up singles ‘Syncope’, ‘TMJ’ and ‘Clutch’ garnered similarly rave reviews, and we’re still in love with last offering ‘Of Heart’. Hear the new gem and all of the above when they get their live airing at the Bowery on November 18……
Kildare dream-pop duo
Telephone Explosions are back with haunting new track “Tine Cnámh” (“Bonfire” in Irish), whose creeping bassline and ethereal vocals come just in time for the Halloween season. The track also features Kildare musician Helen Holligan on bass and was mixed by Adam J. Wilson.
The band comprises Dolores Fogarty and Adrian Mee, and they have so far made a name for themselves with singles ‘Pocket’ and ‘Significant’. 2017 saw them wowing crowds at Electric Picnic and Sligo Live, and they’re currently preparing for the release of their debut album next year.
Art-rocker Niall Cuddy is set to release his third solo studio album
Floating To Alison Island on DeKay Records in December. This will be his first full-length LP since 2013’s
Back To Fidelity, and the first to be issued under his own name (he previously went under the moniker
Cork’s One Horse Pony unleash new EP Hot One on October 12, which follows on from raucous stomper ‘Muddy Waters’. The new effort was produced by
Gavin Glass and according to the accompanying missive, “combines the rough edges of the blues, an R&B attitude, the harmonies of gospel music and Irish trad inflections to create something new and contemporary”.

Spies have just unveiled ‘Broadstone’, the fourth track to be taken from forthcoming album Constancy, due on November 23 through Dublin independent label Trout Records. To celebrate, they play Dublin’s Button Factory on December 14.
In 2016, Spies followed the release of their acclaimed Sea Creature EP with an extensive tour, including several dates with
Wolf Alice. After a two-year absence from social media and live performances, the band unexpectedly returned with singles ‘Young Dad’, ‘Uriah’ and ‘Ho Chi Minh’ earlier this year. The summer of 2018 saw them play sold-out shows in Dublin and London, while also making an appearance at Electric Picnic. Bring on the album!
