HERO OF 2018?
My friend - artist, singer and songwriter NADINE. No one has inspired me more in truth, humility and courage this year.
VILLAIN OF 2018?
PLASTIC. We have got to make a conscious effort to avoid it. We can try to make more foodstuffs from scratch & avoid plastic packaging by buying our veggies loose. I no longer buy clothing made of acrylic, polyester or other plastics and there’s loads more small decisions we can make to reduce plastic usage.
BEST PERSONAL MOMENT?
Getting that call to say I’d got the part on Blood! I was crying on the bus with my dog on my lap.
Intermission. I’m late to the party as I only saw it this year! I’m still quoting it and making myself laugh. I’m filming the Sky drama Temple at the moment, another Mark O’Rowe creation he is an incredible writer.
One Kiss by Dua Lipa and Calvin Harris reminds me of the Dublin Pride parade last summer. I was bopping along behind The George’s float & everyone was jumping and singing along in their costumes and glitter. It was an amazing day - so much love and freedom in the air!
BEST TV PROGRAMME?
The End of the F*cking World. So brilliant to see something different, and Alex Lawther is an outstanding talent.
Sally Rooney’s Normal People.
I didn't know what to do with myself when I’d finished it, I just wanted it to go on forever.
BEST THING ABOUT THE YEAR?
The hottest Irish summer since 1973 and days paddling in the Glendalough lakes.
HOPE FOR 2019?
To work at some point! As an actor you have to make your peace with unemployment & the nature of the industry you’ve chosen, but at the same time you’ve got to keep your hopes up.
WHAT TICKLED YOUR FUNNYBONE?
Oh Lord, anything. I can't claim a cerebral high-class wit but I’m a very generous audience - I will heartily cackle at even the poorest dad joke I’m afraid.
