Owners Conor Mee and Charlotte Carr met while training in the tourism college in Killybegs in Donegal in the mid-’90s. and now preside over one of the finest restaurants in Monaghan. We’re big fans of their Tapas Menu with Homemade Black pudding,
White Beans & Fried Egg; Grilled Broccoli with Caesar Mayonnaise; and Crispy Ham & Duck Liver Paté with Chutney & Sourdough Toast among the rotating cast of beautifully presented small plates. The equally tempting mains include Venison Haunch with Pickled Red Cabbage, Artichoke & Sprouts and, for the pescatarians among you, Roast Monkfish, Dunnany Crab Claws, Greens & Garlic Butter, which positively tastes of ocean. Sunday Lunch is a big thing at the Courthouse with an excellent € 28 Three Course Menu that includes a particularly winning Fried Chicken with Shiitake Mushrooms, Onions & Garlic Butter. It’s a gorgeous room too with staff who are evangelical about the food.
For a light supper, try a few of the dishes from their Tapas Menu, which includes Homemade Black Pudding and Roaring Bay Mussels.
