The Mall, Dingle

Tel: (066) 915 2255 thecharthousedin

An award-winning showcase for the great local seafood fished off the coast of Kerry, the Chart House is a firm favourite of visitors to An Daingean, to give Dingle its correct Irish name. This family-run restaurant has an oldfashioned atmospheric feeling that’s reassuring and thoroughly genuine. The recipes are straightforward, but executed with fantastic expertise. An Three-Course Value Menu is available for € 36.

The Ballinwillin Organic Wild Boar Belly with Seared Scallops, Pancetta, Polenta, Apple & Cucumber Relish and Blasket Sound Whole Lobster with Colcannon & Thermidor Cream are just two of the dozen or so dishes that have an ‘L’ for local next to them on chef Martin Bealin’s all killer, no filler menu. In these calorie-obsessed times we live in, we applaud his judicious use of cream, port and cognac.
