Pa­trick Ryan and Laura Moore are big into com­fort food dishes – the Ed Hicks Ba­con Butty is the stuff break­fast dreams are made off – made with their freshly baked breads. Their piz­zas and flat­breads are also leg­endary round these parts.

Straw­berry Tree is as good as the won­der­ful, cer­ti­fied or­ganic in­gre­di­ents: ev­ery dish is packed with flavour, with game in sea­son a spe­cial­ity. There’s also a great se­lec­tion of fish – try the Wild John Dory with Swiss Chard & Saf­fron Cream if it’s on the menu. There’s a fine wine-list too, mak­ing this one of the best places you can eat, in one of Ire­land’s finest food coun­ties.
