What’s your favourite thing about Ireland?
The people, the scenery, the music, the wit and chat. The intelligence, the love of music and heritage… everything.
Your favourite Irish town? Dublin.
Best view in Ireland? Conor Pass, Kerry.
Your favourite restaurant? The great restaurant in Brogan’s Hotel in Trim, owned by Don Baker.
Best bar in Ireland? O’Donoghue’s on Baggot Street, for nostalgia and music. Good pint too.
Favourite weekend retreat?
Anywhere in the west of Ireland.
Where do you shop for clothes?
I like browsing, and I’ll often have a look around a town centre when I’m on tour.
Where do you pick up ingredients for cooking?
Local shops, and the Dublin CoCo market at the weekend.
Favourite Irish building?
St Canice’s Cathedral, Kilkenny. I have played it a couple of times – it’s quite breathtaking, with wonderful acoustics.
What do you recommend totourists?
Soak up the culture, chat to people and listen to the music.
