NEW LABELS TO LOVE
From radiographer to bridal boutique owner, Sinead Corcoran explains why bridal wear was The One for her.
When I got married, I didn’t want my bridal journey to end. I realised my love for bridal wear went beyond my own wedding. I worked in retail during university and loved it, and I’ve always been interested in fashion. I went to Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week to get an insight, and it felt like the stars had aligned; it was all my interests and passions combined. I wanted my boutique, The One, to be luxurious, intimate and interactive.
I brought these ideas to Mokum Interiors on Camden Street and they designed my vision beautifully, creating a luxurious space for brides and their guests to enjoy. Today’s “modern” bride is contemporary, unique and brave in her choices. The brands I chose for the store reflect this.
I also wanted to offer Irish brides exclusivity; I am the first European stockist of each brand at The One, which includes Moira Hughes Couture and A.B. Ellie. My own wedding dress was by Stephanie Allin. It was a strapless beaded floral lace gown with a detachable tulle skirt.
Most brides buy dresses with detachable skirts so they have two outfits, but I loved my skirt so much, I left it on all night.
My years as a radiographer helped me in my new career; working with people, good communication skills, offering guidance and being involved in a journey are part of both jobs.
