It’s time to widen the lens on what’s considered beautiful and celebrate women exactly as they are.

From billboard perfection to social media filters, what is conventionally deemed beautiful often doesn’t translate in real life. As leading advocates for real beauty with a rich history diversifying the images of women portrayed in commercial media, Dove’s latest campaign is an empowering call to shatter unrealistic beauty standards. In an effort to break down stereotypes and redefine what it means to look and feel beautiful, we recruited and interviewed six women from all walks of Irish life. Project #ShowUs is doing the important work of filling the gaps between how beauty has been depicted for generations and how real, diverse, everyday women see themselves. With the goal of true inclusivity in mind, we can finally begin to expand society’s definition of beauty.
