SPOTLIGHT ON...

Nikki Creedon, owner of Havana boutique, is one of Ireland’s most admired women in fashion, as much for her own personal style as her store’s edit.

Fashion has mattered to me from as early an age as I can remember. My mum had terrific taste and a fantastic wardrobe, and I spent much of my childhood dressing up in her beautiful clothes. I have been in the fashion industry for most of my working life, and I can hardly remember a day that I haven’t enjoyed. It’s a world that is constantly changing, so work is never boring, which I love. I WOULD LIKE TO THINK THAT MY STYLE IS FEMININE,

ELEGANT AND UNIQUE TO ME. I wear a lot of Rick Owens, Comme des Garçons and Haider Ackermann, brands that might be seen as androgynous, but I will always add a beautiful pair of earrings or an amazing scarf so that my outfit appears more feminine. If I’m wearing one of my favourite statement skirts, I will probably dress it down with a manish jacket. HAVANA HAS BEEN INCREDIBLY

GOOD TO ME OVER THE PAST 25 YEARS (the Donnybrook boutique celebrates its anniversary this year). I am such a lucky person because I truly love my store and my job. I have the most wonderful staff – we work hard, but we are also a great bunch of friends. Havana’s success is a result of a strong team-working environment. MY CREATIVE INFLUENCES INCLUDE REI KAWAKUBO, SIMONE ROCHA

AND HAIDER ACKERMANN. I never visit London without dropping into the V&A museum and the Tate Modern, and I have a particular interest in the culture, design and aesthetics of Asia. I’m fortunate enough to travel to this wonderful part of the world a few times a year, and it has been a huge influence on my ever-changing tastes. I have always loved Japan in particular. My dad worked there often when I was a child and he would bring home the most wonderful artefacts. I think this is what sparked my interest. THE CITY OF PARIS HAS HAD A HUGE

INFLUENCE ON MY BUY FOR HAVANA. I’m lucky enough to visit there often; there are few jobs in the world that afford such perks as travelling to these beautiful places.

MY FAVOURITE DESIGNERS INCLUDE JUNYA WATANABE, Simone Rocha, Haider Ackermann, Rick Owens and Comme des Garçons, all of which are stocked in Havana. Outside of the store, I like Stella McCartney shoes and Simone Rocha’s collection for Moncler. When I’m not working, I love to cook, read and go for long walks.
