What started life as a small roadside pub over 250 years ago has grown into an impressive resort hotel. From a humble public house, The Horse & Jockey Hotel, located between the towns of Thurles and Cashel, now boasts 68 tastefully finished guest rooms, an impressive Voya and Elemis spa, 21m metre swimming pool, hair salon, award-winning Silks Restaurant, our in house bakery Coffee Dock, a gift shop and a 12 room conference centre that can accommodate up to 200 people theatre style.

Over the years, throughout these renovations, the hotel managed to merge the old with the new, keeping their loyal local customers and attracting many new ones, including business people and commuters travelling on the nearby M8 motorway. Even though the business has grown substantially, The Horse & Jockey Hotel team still pride themselves on offering a vibrant and friendly Tipperary village atmosphere, thanks chiefly to their warm, professional and welcoming staff.

Food stands at the heart of the hotel, and guests and visitors are spoiled for choice at all times of day – from delicious bakeryinspired breakfasts to late evening steaks. Throughout the day the hotel’s bustling and atmospheric Enclosure Bar offers a menu showcasing the best of Tipperary’s produce.

Steaks and lamb are locally sourced from Martin O’Dwyer’s butcher in Cashel; local cheese is sourced from the Grubb family in Fethard, famous for making Ireland’s famous Cashel Blue cheese; and you’ll also find Crowe’s Farm pork and Inch House Traditional Pudding on the menu, among many more top-quality producers.

Those who like to look their best are also well looked after at The Horse & Jockey Hotel, where the hair salon is much loved by clients from far and near. The salon offers a range of treatments using Alfaparf and MoroccanOil products. And you won’t go home empty handed, thanks to the hotel’s wonderfully unique The Gift Horse shop, lovingly run by Dorothy Egan. Here you’ll find something truly special, from jewellery to homeware, children’s gifts and artwork.

As they did 250 years ago, the family behind The Horse & Jockey continue to pride themselves on tradition, passion and warmth as they continue to develop the business to ensure guests and visitors are always made welcome. This autumn make sure to treat yourself to something special at The Horse & Jockey Hotel.
