THE JOURNEY

-

The competition begins with a photographic round, where hundreds of entries at the initial stage are whittled down to a shortlist of finalists. This year, Wella had a record number of entrants, who spent months perfecting their models and bringing their vision to life at the #WellaCreativeRemix event featuring the Ireland Heat of the Wella Professionals TrendVision Award.

The Irish finalists went on to compete at the UK and Ireland final, held in London on September 30, 2019, at the iconic Roundhouse in Camden.

Hosted by Vernon Kay and hairdressing legend Patrick Cameron, this year’s final had a fresh look with new staging, revised table layouts to enhance the incredible space within The Roundhouse, and hair demos during the cocktail reception.

The night began with a completely bespoke show by the legendary Sassoon Academy team. Celebrating 65 years of Sassoon, “Monoflouro” was curated especially for this event, inspired by the work of Bauhaus master Josef Albers.

Guests were also wowed by an incredible show aptly named “Collaborate”, that celebrated the diversity of beauty and the colour spectrum, using the iconic Wella portfolio. This once-in-a-lifetime show pulled together seven of the greatest artists in hairdressing from HOB Academy, Charlie Taylor Hairdressing, D&J Ambrose, Crow Street Collective by Darren Lacken, Lara Johnson Lifestyle, Sanrizz and Goldsworthy’s.

The final show was delivered by Wella’s Technical Director, Robert Eaton, who presented “Celestial”. This hugely memorable show included strong and powerful silhouettes with incredible colour innovation.

The lucky Gold winners from Creative Artist of the Year and Color Artist of the Year will now head off in March 2020 to Seville in Spain, for the International TrendVision Award Creative Retreat – a mentoring retreat that will take their career to the next level.

There was also an opportunity for the public to vote for their favourite look from all finalists, with the People’s Choice Awards. Thousands voted for their overall favourite image, and both a UK and Ireland winner were crowned on the night
