FIVE STEPS TO HELP YOU AVOID A FEUD
Discuss your intentions with your family. As with most things in life, communication is key.
Consider appointing a family mediator. According to Mediate Ireland (mediateireland. com), mediation should be used in any dispute involving wills, inheritance or probate.
Make a will. It sounds obvious, but according to The Law Society (lawsociety.ie), only 27 per cent of Irish adults have made a will. This is the first and foremost step to ensuring that your wishes are carried out.
Make sure your will meets your legal obligations (ie that your spouse is included as per Irish law).
Appoint an executor. Be sure to appoint someone you know and trust, and make sure they are happy to take on the responsibility.
