Ihave to preface this feature by saying I am notoriousl­y difficult to make up. I sit like a child in a doctor’s surgery at flu vaccine time, viewing every brush, and every movement by the attending MUA with suspicion. But I know I’m not alone, and we have cause for concern, because beauty counter staff are not all the same. There are some make-up heroes (Ken Boylan and Kim O’Sullivan started at the Armani counter in Brown Thomas Dublin; Paula Callan, Derrick Carberry, Judy Wong and countless others were core MAC team, Keilidh Cashell and Chloé Boucher started life at the Inglot counter), and some who really shouldn’t be let near a face.
