SOULA EMMANUEL

Writer Soula Emmanuel grew up in Greystones with her Irish mother and Greek father. She studied both in Ireland and abroad before deciding in her late twenties to undergo a gender transition and become a writer, two moves which, as she puts it, “have considerably reduced my lifetime expected earnings”. On page 160, she writes about her relationship with Ireland, and the feeling of belonging.
