Dear Editor,

I hope you will be able to help me or refer me to someone who you think can. I am in search of the words to two old Irish songs, but unable to find them anywhere.

The first song goes: “A dear old lady sat near me, oh glory be to God said she, yesterday I was 83 and I can still shout ‘Up Kerry!’”

The second song is beautiful, but sad: “At the dawn of the morning my ship will be sailing to take me away from the land of my birth. From the home of my mother…”

These are the only words I can remember, these songs were always sung at get togethers, mostly those of Kerry people. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Dear Editor,

What a wonderful surprise on receiving the March / April issue of Ireland of the Welcomes to see St Michael’s Church of Ireland church in the article on Georgian Limerick. I was married in that church on 17 December, 1956.

I grew up on O’Connell Ave near that church and attended Villiers School. Even though we moved away from Limerick we took our daughter and son home to be christened in St Michael’s.

We are now citizens of the United States and have grown to love this country but Ireland will always hve a place close to my heart. I am planning a visit this summer and I enjoy your magazine very much.

We look forward to welcoming you home Ed

Dear Editor,

I just wanted to write and say congratulations on your last issue, what a jam-packed read it was, full of helpful information. I particularly love the introduction of the Ireland’s Eye pages, I travel to Ireland several times a year to visit family and having a “what’s on” guide will help me better plan my journeys. Thanks again and do keep up the good work.
