THE STATION HOUSE
The Station House Hotel was first opened as a guesthouse in 1983 by Chris and
Thelma Slattery who turned the venue into a stylish destination while staying true to its long history after it opened it 1862 as the station house for the train line to counties
Meath and Westmeath.
Family-owned and run still by the Slatterys, with both
Thelma and Chris involved on a daily basis, much of the business has devolved to the next generation with two of their children, daughters Suzanne and Denise now managing the hotel. However, the whole family has been involved in the comprehensive and stylish makeover at The Station House Hotel which will reopen this uear. All the public spaces, from the award-winning Signal Restaurant and Platform Bar in what was the main station building, to the 19 bedrooms have been lovingly and elegantly renovated.
This complete refurbishment takes the handsome bones of the original buildings and brings inspiration from travels across time and across the globe, marrying Irish country house chic with eclectic influences from the Middle East, India and beyond.
Tucked away in the quaint village of Kilmessan, in the heart of Ireland’s Ancient East and on the acclaimed Boyne Valley Drive, The Station House Hotel sits on 12 acres of lush manicured gardens and woodlands, listed on the Boyne Valley Garden Trail. Here, guests enjoy the feeling of a country escape all year round, an invitation to completely switch off and enjoy the peaceful, tranquil surroundings. Rates are from €160 per double room.
