Andrew Scott describes Paul Mescal as "wonderful friend"

Irish actor Andrew Scott has described his Irish "All of Us Strangers" co-star Paul Mescal as a "wonderful friend," adding that their friendship means "everything."

Speaking to the Sunday Times in a re‐ cent interview, Scott, a native of Dublin, said Mescal, a native of Co Kildare, has been there for him following the death of Scott's mother Nora last month. "I adore Paul," Scott told The Sunday Times.

"Obviously it’s been a tough time re‐ cently and he just continues to be a wonderful friend. It’s everything. "The more I work in the industry, I real‐ ize, you make some stuff that people love and you make some stuff that peo‐ ple don’t like, and all really that you are left with is the relationships that you make. I love him dearly."

Scott and Mescal received critical ac‐ claim for their performances in the BAF‐ TA-nominated film "All of Us Strangers," which saw them play on-screen lovers. Scott said his experience filming parts of the movie was painful yet cathartic because of his experiences as a young gay man.

"In a sense, it was painful, to a degree, but it was cathartic because you are doing it with people that you absolutely love and trust," Scott told the Sunday Times.

"I felt that it was going to be of use to people and I was right, it has been. "The reaction to the movie has been genuinely extraordinary it makes people feel and see things, and that isn’t an easy thing to achieve."

Scott, meanwhile, currently stars as the title character in the new Netflix series "Ripley," which is based on Patricia Highsmith's 1955 crime novel "The Tal‐ ented Mr. Ripley."

The Dubliner also attended the Olivier Awards at the Royal Albert Hall in Lon‐ don on Sunday night where he was nom‐ inated for Best Actor for his perfor‐ mance in the one-man play "Vanya."
