I’ve fallen for my ex again online

-

I was really excited when I got in touch with an ex-boyfriend on the internet. We went out together for two years in our late teens and though we talked about marriage, we drifted apart when we went to different universities. That was 25 years ago. Although we have not met up again as he lives in the US, we have now been in touch for the past year and have fallen madly in love. He makes me feel so good about myself. He has recently left his unhappy marriage but sees a lot of his two children aged 16 and 18. I have a 15-year-old daughter, I am reasonably happily married and I love my husband, but not as much as my ex-boyfriend. We are hoping to meet up next year and I would like us to get back together. I fear you are playing with fire. You may think you are in love with your ex but you haven’t actually met for 25 years and I think you are in love with the fantasy. You are remembering the passion you felt as teenagers and imagine that you would both still feel the same if you saw each other, but you might not. Or he might not. Even more importantly, if you did get back together either you would have to uproot your daughter and move to the US or he would have to move here and hardly see his children. You say that you love your husband, so why not work on your marriage and consign your ex to history?
