Oil-rich Ireland

Irish Daily Mail - YOU - - FOOD & DRINK NEWS -

We’re all constantly on the lookout for healthy alternatives to stock our presses with, and rapeseed oil is one item that can certainly help. An Irish version, Collar of Gold Clearly Pure, is becoming increasingly popular and is even used by some our top restaurants, including Chapter One, Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud, Pichet and Marco Pierre White’s. Rapeseed oil can often be associated with a strong smell, taste and colour, but in a technological first, Collar of Gold uses a water vapour to remove these, leaving a golden liquid that can be used at cold or high temperatures. It can also be used as a butter substitute in baking. It’s available in select SuperValu, Centra, Dunnes Stores and food shops nationwide, priced €5.99 per 500ml bottle.
