Get your GLITTER on

- Edwina Ings-Chambers

Ah, the Christmas party season – inevitably with make-up that involves the G-word: glitter. And there’s plenty of it about, from eyeshadows and mascaras to nail varnish. But glitter on your eyes has a tendency to fall on to your face, so it’s wise to try to apply it like a pro: do your eyes before your base, put some powder on your cheeks so you can easily brush any excess away and hold a tissue under your eye to catch glitter that spills. If, however, despite your best effort you still end up looking like a living disco ball with specks of shimmer on your visage for at least a few days after, try to think of it with joy – like a bit of seasonal facial tinsel, if you will. There are alternatives, of course. You could raise your illumination game with a dash of highlighter instead – or a more dazzling version thereof. Illamasqua’s is a great option and has a hint of hologram for extra yuletide fun. Or try Lottie London’s lipstick, which goes on looking like a normal everyday shade – until you press your lips together and it gets all a-sparkle. Whichever way you go, here’s a selection of some of the best festive make-up. So go forth and dazzle ’em.
