A HUGE PART OF HARRY’S VICTORY IS DOWN TO HISWIFE SANDRA

-

I’ve always been a big fan of Harry Redknapp. He comes across as an affable, fun person who enjoys life. I expected him to do well in I’m a Celebrity... but I think he surpassed even his own expectations by winning it. A huge part of his victory has to be chalked down to his relationship with his wife Sandra. Viewers adored the loving, sentimental, mushy way he still speaks about her, even after 51 years of marriage, and their reunion was so wonderful to watch. My parents were 45 years married this week and I often wonder what their secret is. Granted, they irritate each other on a regular basis, but what two people living together don’t? From Harry and Sandra’s interview on page 10, I get the impression that they’re two very different people – she seems to be the organised one, while he’s happy to sit back and be taken care of. It’s very much a similar situation in my parents’ house and I think that’s what works for them. Yes, my mam would like my dad to help out more around the house and my dad would like my mam to be less organised – but if either of those things actually happened I think it would upset things too much! After 45 years, they know each other inside out and know instinctively what makes the other tick. There’s still debates and compromises on a regular basis, as there is with any longterm relationship. It seems it’s not so secretive after all...

On page 40 we meet Alicia Rodis, an ‘intimacy coach’ who has worked behind the scenes on some of cinema’s biggest blockbusters. Alicia helps actors not only to provide the most believable sex scenes, but also in the safest and most comfortable environment. In the era of the #MeToo movement, it’s good to hear that filmmakers are recognising that this is paramount for their actors and hopefully Alicia’s business will continue to grow.
